Free Inquiry Project Entry #2
I started this week off by trying to plan days to run. I realized I had many plans and to do lists on the go already and many plans that were popping up spontaneously as well. Between constantly changing classes, homework, house chores, friend time, family time, and outside commitments, it proved to be a challenge to make a concrete schedule for future dates. Although it would be nice to have a set schedule for each week about when to run, my life right now is too sporadic to make this a reality. I have quickly found that it works better to go whenever I’m free and have the energy. This still happens about three to four times per week at some point anyways, so I can still run consistently.
I am still in the stage of working out which applications I will stick to and which will be my favourite. For this first week, I used Nike Run Club for my first run and Strava for my second run. https://www.nike.com/nrc-app?msockid=1e755a5cd7166d223f1d4c03d3166bef. https://www.strava.com/. I am also still navigating the apps and their different uses but so far they both have many positive attributes. They track things like distance, time, pace, heart rate, elevation, calories, and which shoes are getting used. They also will tell you if you hit records for distance, time, and pace. This is more than enough information that I need personally. You can get paid premium versions of the apps but I don’t think I will need to go this route.
As far as the actual runs went…
| Journal 1 | Distance | Time | Pace | Heart Rate | Effort (1-10) |
| Run #1- February 6th | 2.36 km | 15:11 | 6:25/km | 155 | High– 8/10- I felt a bit exhausted quickly due to this being my first run in a while. Breathing was hard but I need to learn some more techniques. |
| Run #2- February 7th | 3.20 km | 20:11 | 6:18/km | 161 | High– 8/10- It was a bit colder today and I ran in the morning in the rain. This probably affected my lungs and muscles a bit. I felt more prepared due to yesterday’s session. |
